I bought the Google Chromecast with Google TV and I have loved it. The main shortfall that I encounter is that it doesn't have enough storage. It only comes with 8 GB of memory, and the Operating System uses around half of that. It doesn't leave you with enough space to load a bunch of apps. I found sites online that talked about adding an external hard drive. I have purchased the following and they work very well.
Essentially all of this replaces the power cord of the Chromecast. You have to format the SD card in the FAT32 format. For me , that meant downloading the AOMEI Partition Assistant and formatting the drive. Once formatted, and everything was installed, I went to the Google Chromecast settings and found Storage, and then set up the new drive for use with Chromecast. Now I'm able to download all the apps that I would like! The only other thing that I found is that it puts a little bit of weight on the HDMI connector, so I've ordered a 6' HDMI extender.
